Wizards 5th. Not 2nd.

From the Wizards wire...

The National Basketball Association announced last night that the Washington Wizards will have the fifth overall selection in the 2009 NBA Draft, to be held on June 25th in New York.

The franchise has picked fifth overall on three previous occasions, most recently in 2004 when the Wizards drafted Devin Harris. Washington later dealt the draft rights to Harris along with Jerry Stackhouse and Christian Laettner to Dallas in exchange for Antawn Jamison. The franchise also drafted Juwan Howard (1994) and Jack Marin
(1966) fifth overall in previous drafts.

Washington also owns the 32nd overall pick (second in the second round) of the 2009 NBA Draft.

"This is a great opportunity to improve our team," said Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld. "The addition of a new player through the draft combined with the return of a healthy lineup and the new leadership of Flip Saunders have us excited about what we can accomplish next season."

Interesting. All that other stuff aside, doesn't that mean we have less of a chance now to get Griffin?

Who would you like to see added to the Wizards roster?

Don't fret. Oklahoma didn't get Griffin either, and he played for OKU.
