Here's what's going on in our area this Memorial Day weekend in the world of sports.

Indoor Football

The DC Armor face off against North Division leader, Reading Express, in an American Indoor Football Association game set for this Saturday at the DC Armory. Fans can take a piece of the action home with them as all footballs that are kicked, thrown or tossed into the stands are theirs to keep. After each home game, fans are welcome to get autographs and pictures with Armor players, coaches and the Body Armor on the Armory playing field. Doors open 6 p, game starts at 7p. Single-game tickets are $20, available at the door and via www.ticketmaster.com.


Soccer

The Washington Freedom soccer team hosts New Jersey’s Sky Blue FC prior to the D.C. United vs. Real Salt Lake match. All tickets for May 23rd include admission to both matches.


Professional Biking

The 7TH Annual City Bikes RFK Criterium takes over the Grand Prix race course at RFK. Criterium races feature D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and international cycling stars this Sunday, May 24th from 8:am to 5:30 pm.

Washington DC’s longest continuing annual professional bike race adds four new junior races to the existing roster of professional and amateur races. All races are free for spectators and offer a great opportunity to pack a picnic and spend the day watching world-class racers compete for more than $20,000 in prize money. The Criterium is hosted by D.C.’s Hub Racing Cycling club, benefiting the Doug Gordon Memorial Easter Seals Fund.

2ND Annual Congressional Bank Baseball Classic At Nationals Park

Nationals’ Ryan Zimmerman to serve as honorary chair. The Congressional Bank Baseball Classic will return to Nationals Park on Saturday, May 30th.

High school baseball teams from D.C. public, private, parochial and charter schools will compete for the day’s ultimate prize - the Modell’s Cup. In addition, the top high school baseball players from programs around the city will play in the All-Star Game prior to the championship game.
