2nd Annual Congressional Bank Baseball Classic!

DC Sports and Entertainment Commission Announces Teams for this Saturday's 2nd Annual Congressional Bank Baseball Classic. Free tickets and transportation provided for D.C. youth!

Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Chairman Vincent C. Gray to throw out First Pitches.

Four baseball games – many featuring DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) youth competing on the field – will be played throughout the day. The action begins with the DC Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA) championship game at 9:30 a.m. (the Public school semi-final game) followed by the Private school semi-final game featuring St. Albans versus Gonzaga at 12:30 p.m. The All-Star Game, featuring 48 players from around the District, begins at 3:30 p.m. The day concludes with the Congressional Bank Baseball Classic championship game at 6:30 p.m. with the DCIAA and Private school semifinal winners competing for the Modell’s Cup.

Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, DC Council Chairman Vincent C. Gray and Washington Nationals Third Baseman Ryan Zimmerman are serving as honorary chairs of the Classic. Mayor Fenty will throw out the first pitch at the Championship Game and Chairman Gray will do the honors at the All-Star Game.

Other participants during the day include: Congressional Bank President and CEO John Lane (title sponsor), DCSEC Chairman Matthew Cutts, DCSEC Chief Executive Officer Erik Moses and DPR Acting Director Ximena Hartsock, who will lead the singing of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh inning stretch of the All-Star Game.
