'Flip' To Coach Washington Wizards!

Flipping Houses. Flipping Coaches.

Phillip 'Flip' Saunders has been named the Washington Wizards next head coach, sources are reporting.

"It's a done deal", says one source close to the organization.

Saunders, who will replace current Wizards Coach, Ed Tapscott - hired after the firing of Eddie Jordan earlier in the season - coached the Detroit Pistons for four years. The pistons are 39-41 on the 2009 season, and are ranked no. 3 in the NBA Central division.

The Wizards are 19-61.

Gilbert Arenas liking, or disliking the idea? Both need a championship.

Coach Eddie Jordan took the team to the playoffs four times during his tenure with the Wizards.

What will happen to interim coach, Ed Tapscott? He's been offered a position to remain with the team in the front office, sources say.

As the saga continues, it can only get more interesting with another new coach in the house.

If there's ever been a team that had to go through so many changes in one season, the Wizards are it.

The Wizards are at home tonight against the Toronto Raptors for their home finale. Game time at 7p. The Wizards defeated the Toronto Raptors, 100-98 in thrilling fashion on April 10th in Toronto. Caron Butler, who finished with 21 points in the victory, nailed a last minute jumper as time expired.

It will be interesting to see if the present coaching news will have any affect on the team's playing.

**Update** The Wizards lost to Toronto 97-96 off a three-point shot by Raptors' Chris Bosh. The Wizards came behind from a 12 point deficit in the first quarter to eventually take the lead in the third quarter. The game had eight lead changes, was tied 53-53 at the half; proving neither team would give up without a good fight.

"You always have to play until the clock says triple-zero", said Wizards' center Brendan Haywood.

"The thing that hurt me was we didn't learn from the near loss in Toronto. We made the same mistakes, the same careless passes. The same defensive lapses, and this time they came out on the winning end."
What's next in the offseason for the Wizards?

Guard Caron Butler had this to say about the team, going forward:

"We're trying to get everybody back, Gilbert, Brendan, and try to work on the chemistry and try to flow into the summer, 'cause with the guys being injured for so long, we just want to play through the summer; play pick up, work out, and just try to keep the thing going all the way through 'til training camp. Just try to develop some rhythm and keep this thing going."
Praise For Ed Tapscott

Butler gave praise to interim coach Ed Tapscott and likened coach Tapscott to former coach Eddie Jordan by saying Tapscott always know the right thing to say.

"I think he's been great. I know he's been great, especially for me. I got thick skin, but at the same time I've been going through a lot mentally and physically. This has been a tough season, and to turn to somebody like that who's well educated seasonHe always turns a bad moment into a good moment."
The team saw no action from either Gilbert Arenas, nor Andray Blatche (knee).

The last game of the season is against the Boston Celtics, who are probably still recovering from the 107-76 spanking they received from the #1 seed, Cleveland Cavaliers.

Let's hope the Celtics don't take it out on our Wizards.

They should have had that game last night. They should know better.
