Members of the 1000 point club, the Lady Bison all-time rebound leader and a legendary coach who led HU to 10 MEAC tourney titles, are among the 24 former players and coaches to be acknowledged at Howard/North Carolina A&T women's basketball game on Saturday, January 31.
"The fact that so many former players are coming for this is especially gratifying," Howard Head Coach Niki Reid Geckeler said.
The players to be acknowledged include Darlene Beale Norris, who is the women's basketball all-time career rebound leader while also ranking third on the Lady Bison 1000 point club; top-five career steals leader Essence Coggins, who is fourth all-time with most 3-pointers made in a career; and Annette Lee, a member of the 1000 point club and No. 4 on the all-time career rebounding list.
Sanya Tyler, the legendary coach who compiled nearly 300 wins at Howard, will also be acknowledged. Tyler guided the Lady Bison for 20 years and chalked up four NCAA tourney berths and eight regular season MEAC championships.
