Wizards Lose Season Home Opener

As the excitement of the NBA season in Washington returns, the Wizards lose their season home opener to New Jersey last evening, 95-85. (See game highlights).

Antawn Jamison and DeShawn Stevenson led the Wizards with 14 points respectively.

Vince Carter had 21 points and six assists for the Nets, while seven-foot rookie, Yi Jianlian had an impressive game with 17 points.

Wizards Head Coach Eddie Jordan, who played collegiate basketball at Rutgers University and spent time with the New Jersey Nets, as both a player and coach, had this to say on the loss...
"We just didn't have the positive energy that is needed when you struggle. We needed some positive energy and I just didn't see a whole lot of that tonight."
The game also saw the return of Etan Thomas to regular season action, just months after having open heart surgery last season.

The 'Fab Fifteen' face the Detroit Pistons this Saturday in Detroit at 7:30 p.m. The Wizards fell 62-73 to Detroit in preseason action earlier this season.
