In The Present: Skins Score Another Close Win

Defeat Detroit Lions

In what was another close, down-to-the-wire game; the Washington Redskins pulled another win out of their hats to defeat the 0-7 Lions, 25-17.

Amid the turnovers, two fumbles (one recovered by John Jansen), and a sack on Jason Campbell (by Lion's Dewayne White), the Skins still managed to have 304 yards passing and 135 yards rushing.

The Skins led by two TDs early in the game, but the Lions would rally gaining a touchdown that found them within reach (22-17) of tying the game.

Santana Moss rushed for 140 yards, and 2 touch downs; while team mate Clinton Portis (doing fine from an unspecified injury late in the 4th) had another game of 120 or more yards rushing, tying O.J. Simpson's record with the Bills in 1973 and 1975 for running over 120 yards in five consecutive games.

The Skins pulled through despite several injured players.

Defensive coordinator, Greg Blache calls the Skins a "blue collar" team and said today's game was like the "south end of a northbound skunk".

Translation: He thinks today's game stunk.

Oh, the sayings on this team.

With Smoot's 'Mississippi mud' comment, and Portis' post-game interview eye wear collection, there's never a dull moment.

I'm betting it still won't be when the 6-2 Skins take on the 5-1 Pittsburgh Steelers next week.

Word on the street: "The Skins are so hot right now; nobody wants to bet against them."

That ain't necessarily a bad thing.
