Ex-NFLer, Kids, and Chess

Former Seahawks' running back, Shaun Alexander, is lending a hand to help children learn to play chess through the America's Foundation for Chess.

Shaun recently donated $25,000 to the cause which helps foster a relationship between first and second graders and the game of chess.

The foundation's web site states that their vision is to...

.."provide elementary school students with an opportunity to develop essential life skills such as the power to think ahead, make good choices, and think analytically. Also, as classrooms have become increasingly diverse, it was important that we design our First Move program with tools that bridge social, economic, and cultural boundaries, in order to narrow, and eventually close the achievement gap."

Not surprising for Mr. Alexander to be a part of something of this magnitude.

Shaun's purpose is to teach young people how to grow up to be Christain young men and ladies via his Shaun Alexander Foundation.
