Former Maryland football standout, Shawne Merriman known for his annual Lights On Foundation Coat Drive at the University of Maryland seems to be embattled, yet again.Reportedly Merriman was hospitalized for an overdose of drugs and alcohol and was rushed Sunday evening to an LA hospital.
The injury plagued Merriman, who announced his NFL retirement earlier this year, denies claims that he overdosed and informs fans on his Twitter page of his 'status':
