Honey, We Have A Playoff Series Sweep In The Making

With the Washington Capitols on a winning frenzy, the red wearing, on fire, the Number 1 seed in the East celebrated a much deserved 4-3 win over series rival New York Rangers.

The Caps were down 3-0 even as the game went into the third period, but the red-hot Caps managed to turn things around, and before it was over, the two teams were in a double overtime battle for bragging rights.

Jason Chimera scored 12:36 of the second overtime to seal the win in a very wacky way.

He explains: “It was just a play that kind of went up the wall. I tried to shoot it quick and it went off Girardi’s or someone’s stick. It sat there and I was going to get the rebound. One of the guys coming back poked it and it hit my chest. It was a lucky break; it just sat right there and it was right there for putting in.”

Washington, leading the series 3-1, are at it again Saturday night at Verizon Center.

Says coach Broudreau on the win: “That was a fabulous hockey game. Like I said in here the other night, two warrior teams going at it and leaving nothing. This has been a hell of a series so far, and I don't anticipate anything different on Saturday.”
