Washington, D.C.’s major sporting events when it hosts the 5th Annual Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic February 19-21.
The tournament is expected to attract more than 25,000 people to the nation’s capital and is the largest volleyball tournament in the country taking place over President’s Day weekend. The tournament is among several large-scale sporting events held annually at the Convention Center
“This volleyball tournament showcases the versatility of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and the breadth of events we’re able to host here because of it,” said Erik A. Moses, managing director of the WCSA’s Sports, Entertainment and Special Events Division. “The Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic has quadrupled in size since 2007 and is a prime example of how the Convention Center allows an event to grow to its full potential.”
This year’s Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic will utilize nearly 600,000 square feet of space in the building, including approximately 75 tournament courts constructed in four exhibit halls. The tournament is expected to occupy over 2,500 peak hotel room nights in the District, creating sizable economic impact for the city during the holiday weekend.
