Dallas Week

With the new roster trimmed down to 53 (Haynesworth included, at least for now) and the Dallas game waiting in the wings, the Redskins plan several events counting down to Sunday's game against their arch rival Cowboys.

On Tuesday, September 7, Redskins Week is launched via OFFICIAL PROCLAMATIONS in Prince George’s County, Md., Washington, D.C., and Loudoun County, Va., as well as Fairfax County, VA and Montgomery County, MD. Prince George's County Executive Jack B. Johnson, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty and Loudoun County Chairman Scott K. York will hold separate press conferences at 10 a.m. at FedExField, 1:30 pm at Powell Elementary School in DC, and at the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Meeting in Leesburg at 6:30 p.m. to announce the official proclamations, and each will issue a friendly wager on the outcome of the game with their counterparts in Texas. Immediately following the press conference with Mayor Fenty, Redskins players also will be distributing the backpacks filled with school supplies that were collected during training camp to the student body at Powell Elementary.

Also on Tuesday, Redskin’s fans are invited to join Bruce Allen at the “Return to Glory” party at Union Jack’s in Ballston Common Mall.

On Wednesday, September 8, Morton’s The Steakhouse in Washington D.C. will host the OFFICIAL DAY-LONG “BEAT DALLAS” PARTY, giving fans the opportunity to celebrate the rivalry with team alumni such as Dexter Manley. ESPN 980 will broadcast all of their programming from the scene from noon to 7 pm, and will give fans a chance to win party deck passes to Sunday night’s game.

A great tradition from the past returns on Thursday, September 9, with “HONK IF YOU HATE DALLAS!”day. Redskins celebrities, Hogettes, and the girls of Hooters will be encouraging commuters in the D.C. Metro area to show their team loyalty by honking when they see signs at major intersections and thoroughfares.

Friday, September 10, As part of the league-wide celebration of BACK TO FOOTBALL FRIDAY, The Redskins will encourage all fans to wear burgundy and gold all day to show their pride for the team.

This is the first day schools can submit their entries via www.nfl.com/backtofootball for a chance to win a $10,000 award for the best decorated and spirited Redskins classroom.

Friday morning, the Washington Redskins cheerleaders will appear live on NBC’S TODAY SHOW in New York City, where they will pass out "Beat Dallas” t-shirts to the crowd. Redskins owner Daniel M. Snyder will visit Heritage High School in Loudoun County at 3:30 p.m. to attend the school’s football pep rally.

Finally, at 7 pm, Daniel M. Snyder will be performing the coin toss for the High Point High School's home opener vs. Flowers High School. High Point High School plays on one of the fields that was refurbished by the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation's Fields for Tomorrow project.

From 10 am to noon on Saturday, September 11, all Redskins fans are invited to Redskins Park to help send the players off following the morning practice. There will be competitions for BEST DRESSED Redskins fan and the BEST DECORATED vehicle, along with other opportunities to win tickets to Sunday’s game.

Redskins fans are also encouraged to follow Redskins Blogger Matt Terl on Twitter (@RedskinsBlog) as he will be driving around the D.C. Metropolitan area and Tweeting where fans can meet him for free tickets to the game.

Saturday night, Redskins alumni and team officials will be on hand at FedExField to help debut the new flatbed-mounted giant screens that will be in the parking lots Sunday to allow fans to watch the early NFL games while they tailgate for the Redskins vs. Cowboys matchup. Nice!

Sunday, September 12, Gameday
For the first time ever, the parking lots at FedExField will open at noon for the 8pm game.

Five giant videoboards will be spread throughout the Stadium’s parking lots and Bud Light Pavilion for tailgating fans to watch the afternoon NFL games. In addition to the videoboards, the Redskins Marching Band and cheerleaders will be performing in the tailgate areas during the afternoon, along with Redskins alumni who will be on hand to meet fans.

The FedExField Bud Light Pavilion will open early at 4 p.m., at which time the team will for the very first time open the lower bowl in the east end of the Stadium for fans who want to come in and watch the late afternoon game on the Stadium’s new 100-foot HD videoboards.

Redskins have included the following players to their practice squad: WR Terrence Austin, OL Selvish Capers, OL Erik Cook, LB Rob Jackson, OL Will Robinson, S Anderson Russell, RB Ryan Torain.

Congrats to Brandon Banks for making the squad.

All events aside, fans need but one thing... just beat Dallas!
