A Presidential 'Dream Team' Invades The White House
Thanks again to the marvelous job of the White House pool reporters who continue to give great updates on stuff we regular White House writers aren't privy to.
Take for instance this news from a pool report we received today titled "The Dream Team" that listed the following NBA players who showed up at the White House to play a friendly game of b-ball with President Obama.
"An eye-popping list of stars joined President Obama and his friends for the basketball game: Carmelo Anthony, Shane Battier, Chauncey Billups, Kobe Bryant (not playing), Derek Fisher, Grant Hill, LeBron James, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Maya Moore, Alonzo Mourning, Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Bill Russell, Etan Thomas, Dwyane Wade, and David West."
(Gilbert Arenas and John Wall did not attend. What a shame. No mention of Chris Bosh either).
The event was played for members of the wounded warriors project and participants in the White House mentoring project.
Awesome!
The 2009 SuperBowl Champions, New Orleans Saints, will be in the House tomorrow. We'll be there and will have complete coverage (and photos) following the event.
So far this year Duke men's basketball, the U Conn Huskies, the Sky Blue professional ladies soccer team, and the Pittsburgh Penguins have all made appearances at the White House. (And we were there to bring you the story).
The president does love his sports, and honoring the best at what they do.
Stay tuned!
