Washington Freedom, D.C.'s women's professional soccer team, will be featured in a 30-minute special on Comcast SportsNet entitled Freedom Reigns, which will debut tomorrow, Saturday, June 12 at 5 p.m. The piece will give fans a behind the scenes look at the organization both on and off the field, including interviews and segments with team owner Maureen Hendricks, Head Coach Jim Gabarra, President and General Manager Mark Washo, and several Washington Freedom players.
Washington Freedom will be highlighted in various segments from exclusive interviews and training sessions, as fans will be provided with entertainment and knowledge beyond the game. Freedom Reigns will include tips from Freedom forward Abby Wambach about corner kicks and penalty shots, behind the scenes footage from a fashion photo shoot with four of the players, and a special piece with defender Cat Whitehill as she interviews fellow players.
"Freedom Reigns is a chance for fans to get to know Washington Freedom, and to see what this organization is all about. It really is an inside look at the talent on the field, and personalities off the field," said Whitehill.
The special show about Freedom evolved from an ongoing partnership with Comcast SportsNet, who will also show this Saturday's Freedom game against the Chicago Red Stars at 7 p.m. via webcast, along with Freedom's September 11 game against Atlanta. The network will be re-airing Freedom Reigns on June 12 (9:30 p.m.), June 14 (4:30 p.m.), June 19 (1:30 p.m.), June 22 (9:30 p.m.), June 25 (9 p.m.), June 29 (9 p.m.), and June 30 (7 p.m.).
Additional unseen footage from Freedom Reigns will be available on www.WashingtonFreedom.com.
