Cure those house-bound blues with some hard-hitting, fast-paced action at the DC Amory this Saturday, February 13! The DC Rollergirls (DCRG) offer not one, but two heart-stopping full-length bouts for the price of one ticket.
Doors open at 3 p.m. and the action begins at 4 p.m.
In the first bout, the D.C. All-Stars make their DC Armory debut when they host Steel Hurtin’ of Pittsburgh’s Steel City Derby Demons in a Women’s Flat Track Derby Association-sanctioned bout. This bout marks the third time these two teams have met, and the D.C. All-Stars will be looking for sweet revenge after dropping the first two contests to their steel city counterparts. The D.C. All-Stars, made up of players from all three DCRG teams, play teams around the country for regional and national ranking.
In the second bout, the Cherry Blossom Bombshells take on Scare Force One in DCRG league action. The Bombshells need a victory Saturday to remain in contention for the league’s championship bout in April. Halftime entertainment will be provided by HeartBeats Music & Dance, a Fairfax County dance studio that is sure to get the audience into the groove.
And the day’s action is not just on the track. Licensed massage therapist Rachel Sterling is offering chair massages to fans with proceeds going to support relief efforts in Haiti. The DCRG are also collecting donations of bras, socks and sneakers to support N Street Village, the DCRG charity partner.
Tickets are $12 for ages 12 and up, $6 for children 6-11 and free for kids 5 and under. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com or at the door on bout day. Individuals with a valid military ID can purchase tickets for $10 at the door.
The DC Armory is easily accessible by the Metro on the Blue and Orange lines (Stadium-Armory station) and numerous bus lines. Secured parking is also available.
