Gilbert Arenas Sr. made a call into the Mike Wise Show today on 106.7 The Fan to talk about his son, suspended Wizards player, Gilbert Arenas.
Mr. Arenas calls the guns-in-the-locker-room incident between his son, Gilbert and teammate Javaris Crittendon "a practice joke that really got out of hand."
"Everybody is just blowing this out of proportion", added Arenas Sr.
Mr. Arenas gives his views on the entire incident that occurred with his son and how his son is handling it.
On how Gilbert is taking the suspension...
"I feel bad for Gilbert. He's been crucified for a whole bunch of things. He's taking the punishment among himself the best way he can."
On why athletes have guns...
"These are young athletes who walk around with plenty of money in their pockets. They grab hold to something that makes them feel comfortable...You go around the league and about 85% of them have guns."
Mr. Arenas Sr., on the punishment handed down by the NBA.
"I'm glad Gilbert is taking the bulk of the punishment if he displayed the guns as a joke. Guns are never a joke to anybody."
