Set To Perform At Halftime During Redskins-Cowboys Game
As the Redskins prepare to take on the 11-0 New Orleans Saints, one fan makes preparations of his own.
Superstar in the making, and DC native, Wale is set to perform at the December 27th Redskins-Cowboy game at FedEx Field during halftime.
Wale, finishing up a tour with Jay-Z, will perform music from his latest project, Attention Deficit.
We caught up with him yesterday out at Redskins Park to talk a little football and music.
“I’m very passionate about the Redskins, and everything with this organization”, said Wale.
We asked Wale if he were to make a song about the Redskins, what would it be titled, given the rough (3-8) season the Skins have had this year.
“It would probably have to be about perseverance”, said Wale.
Wale was quick to point out how the Redskins rallied against Dallas two weeks ago during a tough 6-7 loss, and again against the Philadelphia Eagles in a 24-27 loss last Sunday.
“Every season ain’t going be sunny. This is where you fight. This is where you know who’s a fighter. I know for a fact that these guys are fighters. We have to show the world we’re fighters.”
The Redskins are preparing to face Saints who are coming to DC fresh off a 38-17 Monday Night Football victory over the New England Patriots, hoping to remain the reigning champs in the NFC South with a win over Washington.
Unphased, Wale tells us that anything can happen.
“Anything can go down on any given Sunday. I know a lot of the guys on the team. I have a lot of confidence in my team.”
Interesting To Note
The last meeting between the Skins and the Saints was on Sept. 14, 2008 when the Skins defeated the Saints 29- 24. Jason Campbell passed for 321 yards. Santana Moss ran for a 67-yard game winning touchdown with 3:29 remaining. The Saints' quarterback, Drew Brees threw for two interceptions.
Wale on his new found fame: There's a lot of battles you have fight. Not necessarily with the music, but with things you want to do in your regular life. Something as simple as going to the grocery store in the morning for Cornflakes, or The Blvd real quick to go get some sneakers. Some of those things I can't do at specific times."
Attention Deficit features the popular track, Pretty Girls. Wale tells us he's planning to shoot the video for the song in two weeks.
"I hope we can do it at Howard University, or Virginia State."
Attention Deficit is in stores now.
