You can't have sports without food, and you can't have food without sports - as evidenced by this past weekend's Safeway BBQ Battle on Penn Ave.
We saw a Redskins Hogette, and the Wizards' JaVale McGee.
Others who either attended or performed during the two-day event included blues singer Patty Reese, (who did a not-so-bad Blues version of Aretha Franklin's 'Chain of Fools'), Gil Arenas, Chuck Brown, Denzel Washington (really), and all the pork one could stand, including some from the event's returning champs, Famous Dave's.
The yearly event helps benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington's Metropolitan Police Club Houses. Photos.
