Speculation. Hope. Blake.
The NBA Draft Lottery takes place tonight in Secaucus, NJ, and our own Washington Wizards are hoping to obtain the one player - for those in the know - that every team is seeking. Blake Griffin.
Blake "GriffDawg" Griffin received the John Wooden Award, the Naismith Award, and the Sporting News player of the year for the 2008-2009 college basketball season during his tenure as an Oklahoma Sooner. He decided to fore go his last two years at Oklahoma to enter the NBA. He is expected to be the #1 pick overall. (Another LeBron James?)
While DC would love to have the 6'9 forward, Blake Griffin, does Blake even want to come to Washington?
The Wizards are hopeful.
Here are a few facts on where the Wizards stand in this year's Draft, according to the Wiz Blog.
** Wizards have 178 chances out of 1,000 to get the first overall pick in the draft (17.8 %)
** Sacramento has the most chances with 250, the LA Clippers have the third-most with 177 (Wizards finished with the same record as the Clippers and won a tiebreaker to get the extra chance)
** Wizards have a 51.7% chance of landing a pick somewhere in the top three (including a 17.4% chance of landing the second pick and a 16.5% chance of landing the third pick), a 34.7% chance of landing the fourth pick and a 13.7% chance of landing the fifth pick.
** The lowest the Wizards could pick is fifth.
The Lottery will air live on ESPN tonight with coverage beginning at 8:00 p.m. The Wizards' new coach, Flip Saunders, will represent for our Wizards.
Here's a list of other NBA draft hopefuls.
