The DC Armor indoor football team (shown above in black) was tough and ready, but it wasn't enough as the Armor fell to the Reading Express, 35-51 in last Saturday’s home game at the DC Armory.
After leading 7-1 early in the first quarter - scoring several field goals - the Armor appeared to be on their way after making the game’s first touchdown.
At the end of the first half, the Armor tied the game, 15-15.
John Gambil gave a great effort in the third quarter, scoring a touchdown with 2:44 remaining, but Reading’s relentless offense prevailed as they scored the game’s final touchdown with :35 seconds remaining to give them the lead and the win.
The Reading Express are now 9-2, while the DC Armor, in their attempt to remain in playoff contention, are 2-7.
Saturday’s game was the third meeting, and third loss, against the Reading Express.
The Armor are in Baltimore on May 30th, and will get another chance at the Mariners again, at home on June 6th.
