With the fourth overall pick, the Washington Kastles picked Leander Paes, one the world's most exciting players to watch and one of the best doubles players in history. Currently ranked fifth in the world in doubles, he is an eight-time Grand Slam champion. He has 40 career ATP titles and has enjoyed great success in recent Grand Slams, including winning the 2008 U.S. Open Mixed Doubles title, reaching the finals of the 2008 U.S. Open in Men's Doubles and the semifinals in Men's Doubles at the 2009 Australian Open. Paes also won the 1996 Olympic bronze medal in singles and plays for India in Davis Cup. This is Leander's first year playing World TeamTennis and he will have a huge impact on the Men's and Mixed Doubles matches.
Murphy Jensen Selected As New Coach!
Murphy is one of the most recognized and entertaining personalities in tennis stemming from both his playing and, more recently, his TV career. Murphy burst onto the international tennis scene in 1993 when he teamed with his brother Luke to capture the French Open Men's Doubles Championship and played ten seasons of World TeamTennis during his career. Murphy and his brother combined to win three more tour doubles titles before Murphy turned his attention to television. Murphy hosts "Murphy's Guide" and "Open Access" for the Tennis Channel and has been featured in Sports Illustrated and Rolling Stone.

Battling against the Kastles in DC this season are Venus Williams of the Philadelphia Freedoms (July 7), Anna Kournikova of the St. Louis Aces (July 8) and John McEnroe of the New York Sportimes (July 16).
The July 7 match marks Venus Williams' tennis debut in Washington.
