ESPN 980 hosted their 1st Annual Night of Legends last evening at Velocity Five Restaurant in Falls Church, VA.
This year's recipient is former Redskins, and NFL Hall of Famer, Art Monk.
Monk was inducted just this year into the Hall of Fame after being (what many have long said) 'over looked' for many years by the HOF committee.
"It was a long time coming. I was mad because he didn't get in, but he got in with Darrell [Green]", said Chester, one of the attendees of the evening.
"It was, I guess perfect timing to get in with Darryl, but a bit late, too", added Chester.
Fans could take pictures with #81, and also had the opportunity to have Art sign an official NFL football (with an $81 football purchase).
"Art was always a class act", said Marty, fan of Monk.
"I watched him play while growing up and he was always a class act. That's what I look for in an athlete."
Proceeds from the event go towards Art's Youth Power Center.
The event was broadcast live by ESPN 980 and featured several former NFL players, to include Gary Clark, Brian Mitchell, Ken Harvey, and Charles Mann.
Legendary Georgetown basketball coach, John Thompson was also in attendance, as was Rick 'Doc' Walker, ESPN radio host.
Monk was drafted by the Redskins in the first round of the 1980 NFL Draft. During his rookie year, he was a unanimous All-Rookie selection and had 58 receptions, which was a Redskins' rookie record.
