Hail (To The Redskins) Yeah We Got A Win!

September 14, 2008 - The Washington Redskins gave their fans a season opening win as they defeated the New Orleans Saints, 29-25, at FedEx Field Sunday, putting to rest any doubt that the team could manage Jim Zorn's "West Coast Offense".

Play maker Clinton Portis (where would the 'Skins be without him?) had not one - but two - TDs that helped keep the Redskins in the game after trailing 22-24 early on.

Also put to rest, were any doubts that Skins' QB, Jason Campbell could carry this team.

Campbell threw a 67-yard pass to Santana Moss in the fourth quarter with less than four minutes ticking on the clock to send the fans into a winning frenzy. (I can't remember the last time I've heard Redskins fans roar so loud.)

“It was a first down deep ball and we beat them,” Moss said.

The Saints' running back, Reggie Bush, also found success having completed a 55-yard punt return TD. (I'm sure KK must be proud).

The day also marked Redskins' coach, Jim Zorn's first win as an NFL head coach.

"I don't know how to act", said Zorn after the game.

The team had been practicing mercilessly during the week.

Zorn credited his team for the win saying, "Everyone contributed to the get the win."

"Jason Campbell grew the whole week, and he continued doing what he was doing in the first half of the game, into the second half."

The 'Skins are now 1-1 on the season, and with a win at home, will confidently prepare to face the Arizona Cardinals this coming Sunday at FedEx Field.

Game time, 1pm.
