Kastles Victorious Over Anna Kournikova!

The Washington Kastles ended their inaugural season on a winning note, defeating Anna Kournikova and the Seattle Aces, 22-17.

The Kastles played good tennis throughout the evening. Both the men's and women's teams had early wins giving the Kastles a 7-2 upper hand.

However, unlike the blazing hot sun that eventually gave way to a wonderfully breezy summer evening when Serena Williams visited DC two weeks ago, last evening's summer sun turned into a heavy down pour.

The game was eventually delayed as the rain came pouring down, sending players and spectators to seek cover under the rain tent, or find refuge at the nearby Hyatt Hotel.

The game was moved over to the East Potomac Tennis Center in nearby Hains Point were spectators got to see a glimpse of tennis favorite, Anna Kournikova, play against the home team.

Anna's DC debut started out on a good note as she made her appearances in town, and hosted a youth tennis clinic in the afternoon on Wednesday.

In the game, Anna had 9 of 15 first serve points, and 2 of 6 break point conversions.

The Kastles' Justin Gimelstob had a good night with 3 aces and 10 of 12 first serve points.

The Kastles finished their inaugural season with 6 wins and 8 loses in the Eastern Conference in front of the Delaware Smash.
